What would you do if you were given the 5 talents today?

Remember the parable in the Bible talking about the talents? It turned out that of the three servants the master entrusted, two went out and made handsome returns.  Only the third guy is so “cautious” that he dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.  By the way, I have done a quick research in the internet and come to know that a talent is roughly equal to US$840,000 today.  So, 5 talents would be over US$ 4.2 million.

I often picture us as young children attending play sessions in the kindergarten.  Now the teacher comes along in the class and hands us each a drawing paper.  It is as white as snow.  Whilst the teacher is busy trying to calm the crying ones and some others still running around, most of us start drawing on the paper.

Some draw in black.  Others use all the rainbow colors, red, pink, blue, yellow, black, orange, purple, brown, and green, etc.  As if it is still not enough, some even go for the mixing of colors.  What a party!

Some love to scribble on the paper and feel happy that they have a unique creation of their own. Occasionally, there might be one or two still looking at the paper, deep in thoughts.

When the bell goes, would you be surprised to see some blank papers returned?  If it were you, would you rather hand back the paper untouched?

If you ask me, I would say I am happily painting my way. At the end of the day, I believe that the life journey is whatever I dare, and I wouldn’t like to miss the chance of experiencing this wonderful path that God has gifted me.
